The Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, Harish Kumar Gupta inaugurated the EAGLE State Headquarters at Mangalagiri on 25 April 2026, marking a major milestone in Andhra Pradesh's mission to build a Drug-Free Andhra Pradesh.
The newly established headquarters has been designed as the central command and coordination hub for the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE). Equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced technological capabilities, the facility will strengthen intelligence collection, operational planning, inter-agency coordination, cyber-enabled investigations, and data-driven enforcement against narcotics.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP emphasized that drug trafficking poses a serious threat to society and national security. He highlighted that EAGLE has emerged as a nationally recognized specialised anti-narcotics unit and reiterated the Government's commitment to eliminating drug trafficking through technology-driven policing, intelligence-led operations, financial investigations, and strong inter-departmental coordination.
The DGP also appreciated the efforts of EAGLE officers and district police units in curbing illicit narcotics, particularly through sustained enforcement against drug syndicates and the eradication of illegal cannabis cultivation. He stressed that public participation, awareness, and institutional collaboration are essential to achieving the vision of a Drug-Free Andhra Pradesh.
The inauguration of the EAGLE State Headquarters represents a significant step towards strengthening Andhra Pradesh's anti-narcotics enforcement architecture and enhancing the State's capacity to combat organized drug crime with professionalism, innovation, and operational excellence.
