Operation SAFE CAMPUS ZONE

Operation SAFE CAMPUS ZONE is a large-scale initiative to protect educational institutions and students from exposure to narcotics, tobacco products and prohibited substances. 

Operational Coverage (July–November 2025)

• 38,972 shops / outlets verified near educational institutions
• 1,014,20 cases registered for violations under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA)- 2003
• 96.01 lakh imposed as fines across all districts against violations regarding selling of Cigarettes and other Tobacco products within the radius of 100 yards to the educational institutions and selling to minors and also smoking in public places. 

Scope of Enforcement

• Narcotic drugs including Ganja
• NRX and pharmaceutical drugs
• Tobacco, cigarettes and gutka near campuses 

The operation follows a preventive-enforcement hybrid model, with continued surprise checks, mandatory videography and legal compliance under NDPS Act and allied laws. SAFE CAMPUS ZONE has been institutionalised as an ongoing initiative rather than a one-time drive.
